The day had arrived and I have to say I was super excited. 19 handpicked industry experts arrived at the beautiful Haymarket hotel in central London to spend the day discussing and debating the 39 nominees in 7 categories and decide upon the winners for the 2014 Dulux Let’s Colour Awards.

The judges reflected the diversity of categories, their backgrounds spanning interiors, fashion, beauty, technology, design, retail and the arts and each an expert in their field. I was honoured to be sitting amongst such esteemed company.

“use colour to uplift, inspire and transform to make a positive impact on people’s lives”

We were each asked to personally handpick a shortlist for our category fulfilling the brief that our nominations used colour to uplift, inspire and transform to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Given this is my philosophy and mission with colour I just loved the brief.

“colour is more than just mere decoration…”

I have to admit it was tough going finding nominations that fit the brief – colour is still so heavy used as just mere decoration without thought on the impact it can make.  I look forward to awards like these bringing awareness of the positive power of colour.

Then we went discuss our nominations and decide as a group on the winners for each of the 7 categories. My category was Colour innovation in technology & design and my two shortlisted nominations were Frame IN2, Cromodream®, Jacuzzi® and LED Wakeboard, Patrick Rochon.
