Dulux Colour of the Year 2014 – Teal with Alesha Dixon
Back in October I attended the annual Dulux Colour Futures seminar presented by world renowned colour expert Per Nimer, where they announce the Colour of the Year 2014 – Teal.
I’ve been waiting with bated breath for their official launch as I knew it was going to be something special. And it certainly is. Special thanks to Dulux for sending me the two stunning official photographs in this post.
colour in fashion & design event – colour group gb
Just a quick hello to let you know the next Colour Group GB event Colour in Fashion and Design is next week at City University, London on Wednesday 5th February 2014 at 2pm.
This is an exciting event with specialist speakers who reveal how deeply colour affects and influences us all. Questions arise such as how do colour trends happen, what are the new ways of visualising colour as a commodity and what valuable insights are there into why the new wearable technologies must be designed with colour in focus.
turn blue monday into blooming monday with colour
Today is apparently the most depressing day of the year. It even has its own name – Blue Monday. It’s based on Dr. Cliff Arnall ‘formula‘ based on a number of factors such as Christmas holidays withdrawals, debt, low motivational levels, weather etc… And the calculations all add up to the third Monday in January being the labelled ‘Blue Monday’.
Picked up every year by the media, you may absolutely agree, see it as a bit of fun or just this as nothing more than pseudoscience. Mental Health Research UK is using this as a great opportunity to encourage us to dress in colourful clothing to highlight the plight of those who suffer from depression and seasonal affective disorder (SAD) as part of their ‘Blooming Monday’ event.
Speaking at… Marketing Reboot LIVE 2014
If you run your own business and if you’re like me, it can sometimes feel like learning the skill of marketing is going to take a lifetime to master. If you want a day to work ON your business (rather than IN it) and help reboot your marketing, this is a brilliant one-day conference, featuring a series of sessions from some of Constant Contacts favourite marketing experts sharing their knowledge with you.
I was honoured to be asked by Constant Contact if I would be their ‘real life business case study’ to share how I use engagement marketing to promote my business on an ongoing basis.
in the press… the importance of branding for mobile therapists
Looks are important in the beauty industry, but if you haven’t got a salon to express your business’ identity, how do you get your message across?
In the latest edition of the Vitality magazine (for therapists worldwide) check out my interviewed by Clare Wilson, along with two other branding specialists, on the importance of branding for mobile therapists.
dulux let’s colour awards – vote for your favourite colour moment of 2013
The fabulous Dulux Let’s colour Awards is now in its second year and I was absolutely thrilled to be one of the 19 handpicked industry experts asked to be a judge. Colour is in every aspect of our lives so it was no surprise to see the judges coming from such diverse backgrounds spanning interiors, fashion, beauty, technology, design, retail, science and the arts, each an expert in their field.
Dulux Let’s Colour Awards 2014 Judging Day
The day had arrived and I have to say I was super excited. 19 handpicked industry experts arrived at the beautiful Haymarket hotel in central London to spend the day discussing and debating the 39 nominees in 7 categories and decide upon the winners for the 2014 Dulux Let’s Colour Awards.
The judges reflected the diversity of categories, their backgrounds spanning interiors, fashion, beauty, technology, design, retail and the arts and each an expert in their field. I was honoured to be sitting amongst such esteemed company.
most popular colour blog posts for 2013 are…
It’s the end of another exciting year and I’m always intrigued to see which blogs were the most popular with my readers. Taking a peek at my Google Analytics reveals the top 10 most popular colour posts.
It’s really interesting to see what my blog readers found of interest. Most popular by far were the posts on the psychology of business branding colour, such an under utilised brand asset. The intrigue of wearing red & black, fascination on colour in culture and just how do paint companies pick names for their colours. So from 10 to 1 here they are…
