Launching The Little Book of Colour!

Today is the day! My book The Little Book of Colour – How to use the Psychology of Colour to Transform Your Life is out there in the world.
It’s been almost two years since Penguin first approached me, but looking back now I can see this book has been a lifetime in the making.
Starting a Colour Revolution
Even though I’ve been working, teaching and talking about colour for over 10 years now, I’m still fascinated by its ability to influence how we think, how we feel and the choices that we make. And it’s definitely what surprises people the most when I share about colour – that this simple thing has the power to do all that, in an instant!
And that’s why I wrote The Little Book of Colour, so that you could hold in your hands a guidebook for how you can use the power of colour psychology to transform your life.
With this book my vision is to help you and the world fall back in love with colour again. I want you to know you can’t get it wrong and that colour is there for you to play with and enjoy.
With this book my mission is to show how you can use colour to express who you are and how you are feeling so you can experience a greater sense of authentic self and wellbeing.
With this book my wish for you is to celebrate the joy, fun and happiness that colour brings into every moment of our lives and use it to have more fun and feel more alive.
Time to celebrate!
Tonight is the launch party hosted by the wonderful Minotti London at their London W1 showroom where 100 guests, ranging from clients, colleagues, friends and colour lovers (coming from across the UK and abroad) to celebrate with me. I’m really looking forward to having Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director for Dulux holding an “in conversation…” style discussion with me which is sure to be inspiring and insightful and given that we are great friends also lots of fun and laughter. And of course there’ll be bubbles, canapés and colourful experiences – they are in for a treat!
Want your own copy of The Little Book of Colour?
If you would like to buy your very own copy of my book then head over to thelittlebookofcolour.com website – which also launched today. Yes it’s a big day for launches.
That’s it for now… I’m off to get ready!
Wishing you a colourful day!

WAN Colour in Architecture Awards 2017 winner is…
It was an honour to be invited back by WAN as one of their judges for the architecture awards for 2017. There were 31 award categories, where I was once again a judge for the Colour in Architecture award.
The WAN awards are run by the World Architecture News, the leading resource for industry information and project news. They believe that “Colour is an intrinsic component of architectural design. Not only does it influence the way in which we experience a structure, the intelligent use of colour also expresses the building’s identity with regard to location, typology and palette of materials.

ChildArt Magazine – The Color Issue
When I was asked to write an article for US ChildArt Magazine which is a global education periodical written for 10 to 14-year-olds aimed at inspiring creativity, it took me all of a nano second to say yes!
The Architects’ Journal House of Colour competition – and the winner is…
When you see design competitions they’re typically for huge skyscrapers encased in glass and steel so it’s a rare thing to come across a competition that’s more playful and lighthearted like a children’s playhouse.
In May this year it was a real delight to see The Architects’ Journal launch a competition called ‘House of Colour’ which was sponsored by buildings materials firm James Hardie, seeking entries to design a children’s playhouse.

WAN Colour in Architecture Awards 2016 winner is…
If you are an architect or a designer, chances are you’ve heard about the prestigious WAN awards that have architects and designers vying for their coveted awards from around the global. I was really honoured to be asked to be on their judging panel for the Colour in Architecture award to come up with a shortlist of nominees and then picking the winner for 2016.
Colour Meets Trend event and you’re invited…
Have you noticed that every time you open a magazine or take a trawl through social media there seems to be a new colour trend, a new predication or forecast? If you’ve ever wondered why that is and you’re interested in discovering the mysteries of the mechanics behind trend predictions from three well-known experts, then I’d love to invite you to the Colour Meets Trend event on the 1st March.

100% Design colour talks programme in collaboration with Karen Haller
How exciting, London Design Week is almost upon us. When London immerses itself in all things design, attracting creative minds from around the world.
I’ve been busy working behind the scenes on the 100% Design colour talks programme. I can’t believe it was back in March, by a chance meeting at another colour event (Sean Rogg’s founder of The Waldorf Project with his sensory and intriguing Chapter Two: ‘Colour’) when I met the lovely Claire Barrett from Caro Communications.

The colour wheel is just the tip of the iceberg
Colour is one of those amazing phenomenons that’s fascinated man for centuries. So much so there’s specialist colour scientists, academics and researchers around the world coming up with amazing new colour theories and findings all the time.
Interestingly, the new ways of working with colour coming out of the ongoing research aren’t widely known within the design industries. It’s as if we’re stuck in a colour wheel rut and haven’t moved on. But this is definitely changing.

are we walking into a colourless future?
Imagine a world without colour. A world of silver, white and grey. If we are to believe the research carried out by Dulux in March the future looks, well, rather dull, drab and dark.
Why were we so in love with colour and felt free to express our colour choices and experiment in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and then to watch it slowly slide into an almost colour abyss from the ‘90’s?

dulux let’s colour awards – vote for your favourite colour moment of 2014
The fabulous Dulux Let’s colour Awards is now in its third year and I was absolutely thrilled to be asked once again to be on their judging panel.
Last year I was asked to personally pick a shortlist for the category ‘colour innovation in technology & design’. This year my category was to handpick what I felt was the Colour Moment of the year and the great news is… you get to vote for the winner!
