Kaffe Fassett talk and book signing ticket.

Last night I had the pleasure to meet one of my colour heros who I came across 20+ years ago when I started studying colour in earnest.

(Day 16 into my 30 blogs in 30 days challenge!)

Listening to Kaffe talk about his life from his autobiography Dreaming in Color it was wonderful to hear he journey from how he used to surround himself with white and beige before immersing himself in a “rainbow of colour”.

If you know Kaffe’s colourful work he still says to use colours that are appropriate. I had a good chuckle when he said “Using lots of colour doesn’t mean Walt Disney on acid”.

Kaffe’s ‘fell in love with colour’ on a trip to Scotland. I think it is safe to say he hasn’t looked back getting what he calls his “visual education” and influences by colours of UK nature and the great country houses .

“Colour is life enhancing.”

Painting with yarn
Kaffe is literally painting with yarn “textiles is the most sensual way to bring colour to people and to bring colour into their life”.
