in the news… pupils switch on to the marvel of light and colour

in the news... pupils switch on to the marvel of light and colour. This opens a new browswer window.

The Colour Group UK is an interdisciplinary society of scientists and colour professionals concerned with the measurement, reproduction and perception of colour. The group’s primary objective is to encourage the study of colour and to promote the education of the public on colour.

So it’s great to see fellow member, Scientist Ben Craven, Times interview on his interactive talks on the science of colour to school groups from ages nine to 18. His talks are linked to the curriculum but are also designed to encourage an interest and curiosity in the subject, rather than being totally fact-based.

Continuing colour awareness can only have a positive effect in raising the profile and understanding of all aspects and influences of colour. The Colour Group UK and other colour organisations are working towards this goal.

The most popular science project we ever did in my family was light and colour – it was done by me and 2 of my cousins! I really think this early awareness of colour has helped me so much in my work now! Thanks for letting me know about The Colour Group UK!

      Hi Tanya,

It’s great to see schools bringing this more and more into their curriculum. I’m pleased to be a member of this wonderful society.

Great to see the continued success of the Colour Group Great Britain bringing colour science to children in a fun way. They also do lots of interesting things for grownups interested in colour too.

The 30th November at the City University London a symposium called “BLUE – The world’s favourite colour” is not to be missed with a line up of expert speakers. The afternoon features the design and technology of “Denim the never ending trend”. Information on the booking instructions will be on the Colour Group web site from the 8th October
